By: REGGIE R. VISTAL CEBU, Philippines - Barangay Captain Jose Lim Jr. of Kasambagan, Cebu City, died at 3 p.m. yesterday at the Chong Hua Hospital in Mandaue City, allegedly due to liver cancer. He was 64. Barangay Affairs Office head Joeling Lazarte said barangay officials of Kasambagan called him yesterday over the death of Lim. "Confirmed gyud nga namatay na si Kap Lim. Naguol gyud ta aning balitaa. Wala pa mi nakastorya sa mga tagtungod hinuon tungod na-shock pud mi sa panghitabo," Lazarte said. Lazarte said he was informed that the wake will be at St. Peter's funeral homes at the New Imus Road starting today. No details for burial have been provided. Lim served as barangay councilman and as barangay captain under Bando Osmeņa-Pundok Kauswagan for several years. Barangay councilman Franklyn Ong, first councilman of the barangay, will assume as barangay captain. Although they are not allied, Zafra said the ABC is saddened by the death of a public official. "Atong pahisubo sa kabanay ni Kap Lim. May his soul rest in peace," he said, adding that he was unaware Lim suffered from cancer. Zafra said Lim is the third incumbent barangay captain to die this year after Barangay Adlaon Captain Elvis Narra and Punta Princesa Barangay Captain Jose Navarro.
